Former Australian wicket-keeper, Adam Gilchrist has heaped praise on Virat Kohli, stating that his century at Perth in 2018, was one of the best tons he has ever seen.

Kohli stood tall when others failed in Perth

2018 was a dream year for Virat Kohli. He already had epic hundreds in South Africa and England and conquered the final frontier with a stellar hundred under-pressure at Perth.

India won the first Test in Adelaide in convincing manner, and they headed to Perth with a new-found confidence. However, a green top awaited the Indian side as they surrendered against a rampant Australian attack.

All the batters looked clueless, except one - Virat Kohli, who has made a career out of performing in tough scenarios. India lost two early wickets when Kohli walked out to bat.

He showed his true class and despite facing a stern test against Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, he came out with flying colours and slammed a majestic 25th Test century.

Kohli stood tall, but Team India had a horrendous game, as they lost the Test match and allowed the Aussies to make a comeback.

Ahead of the upcoming BGT series, Gilchrist spoke in high regards for Kohli and lauded his Perth century as one of the best hundred he has seen live.

"Virat Kohli scored one of the best tons I have seen it at the Perth stadium - That was probably at a different gravy," said Gilchrist in a podcast.

India's historic series win Down Under in 2018

Prior to 2018, India had never won a Test series in Australia, but that all changed under Kohli's captaincy.

India won the first Test in Adelaide, but lost at Perth. The Virat Kohli led side bounced back with a win in Melbourne, and with the Sydney Test ending in a draw, India etched their names in history books and won the series 2-1.

Two years later, they repeated the same feat, but this time under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, when the Indian side breached fortress Gabba and clinched the series with the same scoreline.
