Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally broke their losing streak at home by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday. This win was special because it was RCB’s first victory at their home ground this season; they had lost all their previous three home matches.

In the match, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal shined with the bat. After being asked to bat first, RCB put up a strong total of 205 runs for 5 wickets. Kohli scored a solid 70 off 42 balls, while Padikkal smashed 50 off just 27 balls. Meanwhile, Among RR’s bowlers, Sandeep Sharma was the best, taking 2 wickets for 45 runs.

While chasing, RR looked good at times, but Josh Hazlewood’s four wickets (4/33) and Krunal Pandya’s two wickets (2/31) helped RCB seal the win. With this win at home, Virat Kohli was seen furious and happy.

Virat Kohli’s Honest Reaction After the Win

Even though Kohli played a brilliant knock again, his post-match interview showed a mix of relief and frustration. With a little laugh, he said something funny yet honest about playing in Bengaluru. Kohli said,

“The first challenge here (at this venue) is to win toss and second half it becomes a bit of a advantage, we have been fighting hard to get a good score in the first few games, but the template today was for one guy to bat through and the rest of the batters can go attacking and today it really paid off.”

He added:

“There is pace and bounce in the first 3-4 overs and I think we tried to force too many shots in the last 3 games and today we let the ball come and adjusted ourselves and we were able to capitalise on those. We figured out a way to bat now and in the next few home games, we should be in a better position to get those extra 15-20 runs.”

Kohli also expressed how much he loves playing at this stadium:

“It (this venue) is the best place to play cricket in the IPL, and the fans backed us during good and bad times. It is a special place and have lot of special memories.”

Virat Kohli Climbing The Orange Cap List

Thanks to his latest half-century, Kohli has jumped to second place in the Orange Cap race (which goes to the highest run-scorer in IPL). He was earlier in the eighth spot. Right now, GT’s B Sai Sudharsan is leading the chart with 417 runs.

Meanwhile, with this win, RCB are now in 3rd place on the IPL 2025 points table. They’ve won 6 out of 9 matches. They will now face Delhi Capitals in their upcoming clash on April 27.
