This evening, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 43rd match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The much-anticipated encounter is scheduled at the historic M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Led by MS Dhoni, CSK have been miserable in the competition, losing six of their initial eight matches. They are in a do-or-die situation, as they need to win all their remaining games to stay alive in the playoffs race.

Thus, the upcoming clash against SRH holds paramount importance for the Super Kings who might tinker with their combination to change their fortunes tonight.

(Jamie Overton's stats in IPL 2025)

English all-rounder Jamie Overton hasn't lived up to the expectations in the IPL 2025 so far. The right-arm medium pacer has gone wicketless on three consecutive occasions, while conceding runs at a horrible economy of 13.83. He has contributed only 15 runs to the tally, failing as an all-rounder in the yellow jersey.

Thus, with their IPL 2025 campaign at stake, CSK might bring Sam Curran as Overton's like-for-like replacement.

Earlier, Sam Curran was given just two matches, where he couldn't impress the CSK think tank with his returns. Having said that, the southpaw is an obvious upgrade over Overton and might make his way back to the playing XI vs SRH.

No Place For Ashwin, Shreyas Gopal To Get A Game?

Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been a pale shadow of himself in the IPL 2025. The talismanic cricketer has contributed with neither the bat nor the ball, letting the five-time champions down in the tournament.

Statistically, Ashwin has bagged only five wickets in seven matches at a dismal strike rate of 28 and an economy of 9.29. If CSK need a spinner who can chip in with handy cameos down the order, they might have a look at Shreyas Gopal instead of Ashwin.

In 104 T20 matches, Gopal has scalped 124 wickets while scoring 526 runs at a strike rate of 120.64.

On the other hand, if they decide to bring an additional seam option, Anshul Kamboj might get back into the team and lead the bowling attack with Khaleel Ahmed and Matheesha Pathirana.

There won't likely be any major changes apart from those mentioned above, with Shaik Rasheed, Ayush Mhatre, Rachin Ravindra, Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad playing key roles.
