'Virat Kohli Is The...': Joe Root Hails Kohli Ahead Of IND vs ENG WC Clash

England veteran Joe Root has lavished huge praise on India’s batting legend Virat Kohli, a day prior to their World Cup 2023 clash in Lucknow. In a bid to hype up the much-awaited showdown, a number of cricketers from both sides, including Root, gave their takes on the competitive rivalry shared by the two sides.
During Kohli’s segment, the legendary batsman also claimed that he would like to emulate Root’s reverse lap shot against fast bowlers.

While speaking with the Star Sports Network on match-eve, India’s mainstay Virat Kohli praised his English counterpart Joe Root for his all-round batting abilities, and claimed that he would to emulate his reverse lap shot against fast bowlers. He said:
“Joe Root is a great all round, the way he plays the reverse lap, I would like to take that shot.”
Root also praised Kohli and described him as the “greatest chaser” of all time.
“Virat Kohli is the greatest chaser of all time.”
Root’s statement carries significant weight, as it comes in the wake of Virat Kohli’s remarkable run-chasing prowess. In the past few weeks itself, the Indian batting maestro has orchestrated incredible wins over Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh which subsequently helped the ‘Men in Blue’ to maintain their unbeaten run at the 2023 World Cup.
Defending champions England, on the other hand, have lost four out of their five fixtures so far and Jos Buttler’s troops are currently placed at number nine on the 10-team points table. Their upcoming match against India marks a must-win one for them if they are to instill some hope for a spot in the semi-finals.
