Renowned South African cricketer AB de Villiers showered immense praise on his dear friend, the Indian maestro Virat Kohli, after he smashed a majestic century in his 500th international match against West Indies in Trinidad.

In his 500th international appearance for India, Kohli displayed a watchful innings, scoring 121 off 206 deliveries, helping India secure a substantial first innings lead. This remarkable century was his 29th in Test cricket and his 76th overall across formats.

With this outstanding knock, Kohli ended his five-year wait for an away Test century. His last away Test century was recorded in December 2018, when he scored 123 against Australia in Perth.

ABD expressed his admiration for Kohli, referring to him as a hero and a legend. He also lauded Kohli's kind-heartedness, sharing an incident where Kohli treated Joshua De Silva's mother with great warmth and compassion.

“Virat Kohli is a hero, I love watching him play, he is a legend & I am so happy for his 76th hundred. Virat Kohli has a beautiful heart, I am so lucky to witness it and the way he treated Joshua De Silva’s mother was just beautiful,” said AB de Villiers in his YouTube channel.

Drawing comparisons with sporting icons like Cristiano Ronaldo, Novak Djokovic, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Lewis Hamilton, de Villiers highlighted the common trait they share with Kohli – a fighting spirit and an unwavering desire to be the best.

“Kohli’s one thing that stands out for me is similar I see in Woods, Federer, Nadal, Novak, Hamilton & all have one thing common with fighting spirit & desire to be the best & never give up like of Messi, Ronaldo – that makes Virat the best of the best,” de Villiers added.

The strong bond between Kohli and de Villiers is well-known, stemming from their time together as teammates in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Upcoming for Kohli is the three-match ODI series against West Indies. After that, he will return to India as he hasn't been named in the squad for the five T20Is against the same opponent.
