Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has made a huge revelation about the contrasting personalities of modern-day batting icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. As per the 41-year-old, there have been apparent behavioral changes between Kohli and Sharma ever since both took over Team India captaincy.

Mishra claimed that while Virat Kohli changed with ‘fame and power’, Sharma’s persona remains the same.

While speaking with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra on the latter’s podcast, Amit Mishra claimed that active national skipper Rohit Sharma is still the same person as he was during his yesteryears. The 41-year-old even stated that while he has not been a part of Team India for the past few years, he is still treated in the same ‘joking’ manner by Sharma.

Amit Mishra, who was part of India’s 2013 Champions Trophy win alongside Rohit Sharma, further stated that the Indian opener has maintained the same rapport despite being a successful IPL and World Cup-winning captain for his nation. He said:

“Why does Virat have less friends? His and Rohit's natures are different. I'll tell you the best thing about Rohit. When I met him the first day and when I meet him today, he is the same person. So will you relate to him more or with someone who changes according to situation? I haven't been part of the Indian team in years.

Still when I meet Rohit during the IPL or any other event, he is always joking with me. I don't need to think what he will think. We joke with each other. He is at the top but we still have maintained that rapport. He is the captain, won the World Cup and five IPL titles.”

On the other hand, Amit Mishra said that he has noticed a dynamic change in personality of Virat Kohli, implying that the latter might have changed with ‘fame and power’. Mishra, however, maintained that Kohli is still “very respectful” while interacting with him. He added:

“I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat Samosas, when he needed Pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli the captain. Whenever he meets me, he is very respectful, but it's obviously not the same anymore.”

Kohli and Rohit recently starred in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win in Barbados on June 29. The two legendary batters subsequently announced their retirements from T20Is.
