On the eve of the first Test between India and Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, former India opener turned analyst Sunil Gavaskar slammed foreign media for not making a row over the Perth curator's recent remarks on the Perth pitch.

It is worth noting that 27-year-old curator Isaac McDonald, recently remarked that the Perth pitch would be bouncy, pacey and spicy. Meanwhile, Gavaskar has slammed foreign media and stated that they would have made it an issue if a similar thing would have been said in India.

Gavaskar Calls For Support For Indian Curators

“ 'This is Australia, this is Perth. I’m setting ourselves up for a really good pace, good bounce, good carry.' These are the words of the head curator of the Western Australia Cricket Association. Fair enough. But next time there is a tour by Australia and England to India, and their former players and media start complaining about Indian pitches, every Indian curator should turn around and say, “This is India, this is Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, wherever. I am setting up the pitch for some nice turn and variable bounce. Hopefully, our media too will support the curator and tell the visiting media where to go," Gavaskar said speaking to Sportstar.

He further laid down the difference in the media reporting during his playing days and cited an example that an error in overseas conditions was termed as human error, while the same thing was reported as 'cheat' or 'Butchers of Bombay'.  He further defended BCCI and voiced his opinion against BCCI bashing.

"With all this, one would expect some sense of gratitude. However, the BCCI bashing continues for no reason. Stories are fabricated without any basis in truth, and if proven wrong, there is no acknowledgement," he added.

Recently, India skipper Jasprit Bumrah too adressed the pitch question and remarked that they expected a bouncy and fast surface.
