It was a terrific ODI series victory for the Indian side against South Africa, only their second on the African soil, that too coming under the captaincy of KL Rahul, who had a tough time last time around. The Men in Blue claimed the third ODI of the series by 78 runs after bowling out the home side for just 218 while chasing 296.

All this came after the series reached the finale, with both teams levelled at 1-1 as the hosts managed to get the better of Indian bowlers by chasing the target down. However, things turned out different this time around as the Proteas struggled to get even close to the target set in the third game.

The Indian bowlers played their part, especially Arshdeep Singh, who bagged a four-wicket haul, but the stage was set on fire by the right-handed Sanju Samson as he banged 108 on a very crucial day, stepping up with his high-class shots and temperament.

Skipper Rahul admitted that Samson has been short on luck when it comes to chances in the Indian side, mainly due to the plethora of players present in the setup who have solidified their place in the team. Further, he also spoke about the youngsters getting their chances as well after spending time in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"Always love being around the boys. Nice to get back on the cricket field after a disappointing World Cup. Have played with a lot of them in the IPL, nice to get out here and play with them. Usually, my message is to always enjoy the game, to give your best and not worry about the rest. They’re great cricketers but few of them haven’t played internationally so it’s about giving them some time to adjust. It’s about making their roles clear and they all gave their 100% so nothing more I can ask. Sanju has been a phenomenal performer in the IPL, unfortunately hasn’t got a lot of chances at the top of the order for various reasons but nice to see him do well today."

After this impressive series victory, India will move ahead to the two-match Test series against the same opposition that begins on 26th December in search of their first-ever series triumph in the Rainbow Nation.
