Should Rohit & Kohli Be Included In India's 2024 T20 WC Squad? Harbhajan Opines

With the World Cup 2023 defeat still fresh for most Indians, the Men in Blue have now set their eyes on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in the Caribbean and the United States of America (USA). The youngsters have been given some fair opportunities in the absence of senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli during the series against Australia and South Africa.

However, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh thinks India should have those two in the setup when they move across the ocean for the global cricket tournament in June. 

He said that considering the effect seniors have on the youngsters, considering a mix of youth and experience would be beneficial for the 2007 T20 World Cup Champions. 

Harbhajan, who was instrumental in India winning both the 2007 T20 and 2011 Cricket World Cup, believes that Rohit and Virat add value to this team while speaking to ANI.

"I think both Virat (Kohli) and Rohit (Sharma) should be there in the World Cup. I think a good combination would be possible only when you have good senior players too with the youth. Virat and Rohit have a lot of mettle in them. I think they should play."

To the unversed, both of them have been absent from the shortest format of the game since the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final defeat against England by ten wickets. However, since then, they have picked and chosen the series depending on the format of the World Cup to be played that year.

Most recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that they have not yet decided on the side's combination, including Rohit's availability at the top of the order, since there is quite some time left for the mega-event.
