Team India had a near-perfect time during the World Cup 2023, winning ten out of eleven games and the only loss coming in the final. In the era of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Indian team have not only been on top in the rankings, but they have dominated each and every country they went to play, whether it was Australia or England.

Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian cricketer and the 1983 World Cup winner, stated something that has made fans emotional. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in action in a few days playing the first Test against the South African team, with a mission of winning the first-ever Test series in South Africa.

Over the last decade, what Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have done for the Indian team is something not everyone can do. Both of the Indian players are once-in-a-generation kind of players and they have proven it with their exemplary performances over the years, while donning the blue on the field.

After BCCI's decision to retire Number 7, Gavaskar thinks the next jerseys will be 18 and 45

"I can see number 45 and number 18 Jersey retiring the same as number 7 and number 10 in Indian cricket."

Recently, BCCI announced that the number 7 jersey has been retired, which means that no one will be able to number 7 for India at the international level. 7 was the number of Dhoni, who brought most of the glory to India in terms of ICC trophies. Before 7, number 10 was also retired, which was the number of Sachin Tendulkar, who is also known as the God of Cricket.

Now Gavaskar thinks that the next numbers which will go down in history, will be of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have done a lot for the Indian team over the last few years, whether it's taking the team to number one in the rankings or it's about winning in countries like Australia and England.

Both of them will be playing again for India on the 26th of December for the first time after the hurtful defeat of the World Cup.
