Cameron Green, the POTM in RCB’s 47 runs victory against DC, confessed that the team woke up a little late as the five-game winning streak is not still not enough to make it to the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the virtual knockout game against Delhi Capitals (DC) by a mega 47-runs margin and moved to fifth place on the points table with a game left on the schedule.
Cameron Green played an important role by contributing 32 runs with the ball and leaked just 19 runs in his four overs quota, which was enough for Green to attain the Player of the Match award.
However, despite the clinical win, Cameron Green wasn’t fully satisfied as RCB’s playoff hopes are still hanging in the balance despite a five games winning streak.
"Yes, a great game for our team. Unfortunately, it was a bit late, but we are still in the hunt and that's important," Green said.
Further shedding light on the game, Green revealed that the pitch had enough help for the bowlers, and he certainly wasn’t thinking about getting 200 in the first innings.
"It was a concern not getting 200. We took early wickets and pitch was not easy. We got lucky and then assessed the conditions and did well," he added.
The all-rounder opined that keeping the pace off the ball was the plan as conditions demanded that, and with no dew, RCB had an added advantage.
"We identified that pace on the ball works for the batters. Pace off works for us and thankfully there was no dew. Spent a lot of times to get adjusted to the conditions," Green opined.
Lastly, Green was overjoyed as Chinnaswamy pitch finally played even in IPL and he always likes to see bowlers getting help from the surface.
"Last year was a road, and this year it has something in it for the bowlers and that is good. Short ground and bowlers need help. Glad about it," Green concluded.
RCB have to win their final game against CSK and hope for stars to align to somehow make it to the final four.
