After India's convincing seven-wicket victory over the West Indies in Guyana on Tuesday, captain Hardik Pandya highlighted the match's significance, emphasizing the team's readiness for crucial encounters.

Having suffered two consecutive losses, India made a strong comeback in the third T20I against West Indies at Guyana's Providence Stadium on August 8. The Indian team managed to chase down a target of 160 runs, with Suryakumar Yadav delivering a match-winning performance.

"Our win was very important. We discussed as a team that these three matches would be exciting. Two wins or losses don't alter our long-term strategy. We need to demonstrate our readiness for such must-win games,"  stated Captain Hardik Pandya during the post-match presentation.

The team's commitment to fielding seven batters was reaffirmed, with Suryakumar Yadav's responsible performance serving as a positive example. Pandya commended SKY's influence and camaraderie with Tilak Varma. India secured a resounding seven-wicket triumph against the West Indies in the third T20I.

“As a group we have decided to bat with seven batters and we have to take responsibility, like it happened today if the batters score runs then you don't need someone at number eight. As Surya mentioned, they (Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma) play together and spend time together, good to have someone like SKY in the team and when he takes responsibility it sends a message to the others."

Opting to bowl first, India faced initial challenges as West Indies' openers, Kyle Mayers (25) and Brandon King (42), constructed a strong 55-run opening stand. Nicholas Pooran contributed significantly with 20 runs, but Kuldeep Yadav disrupted the middle order by claiming three wickets.

While it seemed West Indies might post a low total, skipper Rovman Powell's explosive performance yielded an unbeaten 40 runs off just 19 balls, propelling the team to a total of 159 runs.

Chasing the target, Indian openers faced struggles, as debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal scored only 1 run, and Shubman Gill managed 6 runs. However, this paved the way for Suryakumar Yadav to shine, leading a remarkable innings that dismantled the West Indies' bowling attack. Supported by Tilak Varma's steady contribution of an unbeaten 49 runs, Captain Pandya (20*) sealed the victory, securing a seven-wicket win in the third match of the series.
