In a night to forget for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time IPL champions faced their fifth consecutive defeat of the ongoing season by eight wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

KKR was led by the ever-reliable Sunil Narine, who delivered a stellar all-round performance.  He first rocked CSK’s fragile batting lineup with three crucial wickets and then followed it up with a blistering knock of 44 runs off just 18 balls, including five towering sixes and two boundaries.

Chennai’s total of 103 was their lowest-ever at the Chepauk and the third-lowest in the history of the IPL. With this latest defeat, MS Dhoni’s side now sits at ninth place in the points table.

Srikkanth Slams CSK’s Playing Tactics vs KKR

Reacting strongly to the humiliating loss, former India captain Kris Srikkanth did not mince words in his criticism of the team. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

"One of CSK's worst defeats ever. Powerplay batting looked like a rehearsal for a test match. Whole XI feels like it's running on nostalgia. Time to think out of the box, why not try some unsold players like Prithvi Shaw at this point? Would you try it? , even chaos is a strategy?" he posted.

Srikkanth’s comments clearly stated the growing concerns over CSK's team composition and their continued reliance on veteran players. With the season slipping away, he also made a special suggestion and stated the franchise to bring in fresh faces like Prithvi Shaw.

CSK’s Poor Form: Time For A Reset?

The once-feared fortress of Chepauk has now turned into a site of heartbreaks for CSK fans. With the batters failing to fire and the bowlers unable to contain the opposition, the team is struggling on all fronts. Star players have underperformed, and injuries have only compounded their woes.
