On Sunday, swashbuckling Indian batter Rinku Singh had a memorable start to his T20I career, as he helped his side seal a thumping win over Ireland through a belligerent cameo.

Batting at number five, Rinku thrashed the Irish bowling attack to compile 38 runs off just 21 deliveries, powering India to a mammoth 185-run total in 20 overs. In response, Ireland managed a paltry 152, losing the game by 33 runs despite an outrageous 72-run knock from Andrew Balbirnie.

After the match concluded, Rinku was presented with the player of the match award for his stunning knock. In his reaction, the southpaw expressed his satisfaction at his performance.

"Feeling very good. This is my second game and was very much eager to get batting. I tried to replicate what I did in IPL. Yes, I listen to what my captain [Bumrah] says," Rinku said.

"Feels very good. The hard work that I have done, has been working hard for 10 years. The hard work that I did gets paid off with such contributions. The first game I batted, I get the Player of the Match, and it could not get any happier," he added.

India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with this emphatic victory. The third match of the series will be played at the same venue on August 23.
