In a significant development, Ireland have opted to bowl first in the second T20I of the three-match series against India. At toss, Ireland's captain Paul Stirling decided to chase, considering the Malahide track's conduciveness for batting.
At toss, Irish skipper Paul Stirling said,
"We are going to bowl today and looking to put in a good performance with the ball. Yeah, we have done that now for a couple of times, we look to be in the game for the majority of the match. Yes, the aggressive mentality is what we are trying to carry, in that a couple of results might not go your way, but that is a part of the game. This wicket at Malahide generally has a lot of runs. No changes to our team."
Meanwhile, Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah opened up about his fitness, revealing that they would’ve batted first anyway.
"Yeah we were looking to bat first as well. The weather looks good and we would want to have runs on the board. The body is good. I am happy to get game time. Hopeful to get more in the future. You have to be careful with the rain being around. Ah no, we are playing with the same team," Bumrah said.
Both teams are set to field the same playing XIs, which featured in the previous game.
