RCB suffered a big defeat against the Mumbai Indians, who clinched victory by seven wickets. Despite RCB posting a huge total of 196 runs, Mumbai chased it down comfortably within the 16th over, marking a humiliating loss for RCB.

Dinesh Karthik and Rajat Patidar's impressive fifties took RCB to a fighting total of 196 runs against Mumbai. Despite losing Kohli early and facing an excellent performance from MI's Bumrah, who took a five-wicket haul, RCB managed to put a substantial score on the board which could challenge MI.

MI's thunderous chase

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided a stellar start for MI, dominating every bowler of RCB. Their aggressive batting was further complemented by Suryakumar Yadav, who reached a quick fifty off just 18 balls. Throughout the Mumbai batting, RCB's bowlers failed to pose a significant threat to MI's batters.

Faf blames toss for the loss

Faf du Plessis attributed the loss in the match to losing the toss, emphasizing the advantage of batting second in dewy conditions, which typically favors teams in Wankhede. He pointed out that it was Hardik who won the toss for MI and opted to bowl first. Faf also highlighted Mumbai's efforts in the field and acknowledged the element of luck involved in winning the toss.

"It's a tough pill to swallow - combination of two things, very wet (the conditions with dew), I need to somehow win some tosses, secondly, they played really well, put the pressure on us and we made a lot of mistakes (especially during the powerplay). We knew dew would be a factor, we might have needed to make 250+, but they made 196 look very less. You know when there's dew coming, you'll have to bat big, the ball was very wet, it was changed a few times and the bowlers struggled."

With this defeat, RCB has now lost five out of six games, making their playoff qualification prospects very challenging. Every upcoming game for RCB will essentially be like a final if they are to secure a spot in the playoffs.

RCB will face SRH in their next game on April 15th.
