The leg spinner from Uttar Pradesh, Vipraj Nigam, has made his debut for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The bowling all-rounder, who was bought by the Capitals during last year's mega auction for INR 50 lakh, is playing his first game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Who is Vipraj Nigam, Delhi's New Leg-Spinner?
Born in 2004, Vipraj has featured for Uttar Pradesh side in domestic cricket, where he rose to prominence after his exploits in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2024-25. In that tournament, he picked eight wickets at an economy of slightly above seven.
The leg-spinning all-rounder was caught in the limelight after his exploits in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy 2024 final, which helped him earn a place in the under-23 NCA camp organized by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
Following this, he went on to play for Lucknow Falcons in the UP T20 League, and then he was able to make his senior debut for the Uttar Pradesh side in domestic cricket.
In the UP T20 league, Vipraj claimed 20 wickets in 11 games as he was one of the star performers for the side with his leg-break deliveries. While with the bat, he played a solid 8-ball 27*-run knock helping Rinku Singh in one of the match against Andhra Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

The leg spinner has featured in three first-class matches for UP where he has managed to pick 13 wickets at an economy of 3.85. While in List A matches, he has five games under his belt with four wickets while maintaining an economy of 5.00. In the T20 circuit, he has seven games with eight wickets at an economy of 7.12.
After these performances, Vipraj earned a call for the Capitals side in the ongoing IPL and hence, made his debut in the ongoing clash against Lucknow Super Giants at Visakhapatnam.
