After consecutive defeats in the ongoing IPL 2025, the Chennai Super Kings are standing in the last position on the points table. Their struggle is growing in each match. Their path to the playoffs looks hazy with the tournament now halfway through.

As they are all set to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the yellow army is looking forward to a major turnaround. But before MS Dhoni and Co. step into the upcoming clash, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has spotlighted a lingering issue that’s been haunting CSK this season.

Batting Lineup s Raising Concern

Over the years, the Chennai Super Kings have created their legacy with their brilliance. Their batting, once a pillar of strength, has turned into a major concern. CSK batters are struggling to get a strong start, accelerate the innings in the middle, and sometimes even struggle to finish the game.

To resolve the issue, they shuffled their batting order multiple times, but nothing worked in their favour. Before facing the SRH on the big stage, Aakash Chopra has weighed in, shedding light on the deep-rooted batting woes that continue to haunt the MS Dhoni-led side.

“The batting is still not doing well. Ravindra Jadeja was sent up the order. He scored a fifty as well last time, but he was going at a run-a-ball for a long time, which is not ideal because, ultimately, you were left too far behind. It was a 190 to 200-run pitch, and you didn't even reach 160-165.” Chopra said.

The Bowling Unit Lost Its Rhythm

Adding to their batting woes, their recent bowling struggle is putting them on the back foot. Their star-studded bowling unit looked dull under pressure. Early in the season, Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed were a force to reckon with, constantly troubling the opponent batters.

Noor picked up 12 wickets, while Khaleel bagged 11. But recently, even these two have shown signs of struggle, and the rest of the bowlers have been largely ineffective. Aakash Chopra highlighted the growing concerns.

“The bowling is not looking as impressive as it looked at the start. Noor Ahmad is still picking up wickets. Both he and Khaleel Ahmed are in the Purple Cap list, but it's not that impressive. It's not getting together quite nicely. This problem is troubling them repeatedly, but that's been their story,” he added.

The Chennai Super Kings have six more games to turn things around, and to make it to the playoffs, every match is a must-win. As they are set to face SRH in the next match, they will look forward to bounce back strongly.
