Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has slammed his nation’s deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for calling the terrorists of the Pahalgam attack “freedom fighters”. Earlier this week, terrorists launched an attack on a popular holiday destination in Pahalgam, Kashmir; killing over 25 tourists and one Kashmiri local.
While speaking with the reporters in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar stated that the people who carried out the deadly attacks might well be “freedom fighters”.
Danish Kaneria tears into PAK deputy PM
Pakistan’s deputy prime minister Ishaq Dar has called the terrorists of the Pahalgam attack in India as “freedom fighters”. Dar’s controversial comments did not sit down well with former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria, who questioned the minister in a scathing social media post. Kaneria wrote:
“When the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan calls terrorists “freedom fighters,” it’s not just a disgrace — it’s an open admission of state-sponsored terrorism.”
Earlier this week, Danish Kaneria also slammed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for not condemning the terrorist attacks on Indian civilians in Pahalgam. Moreover, the ex-cricketer also accused Sharif of “sheltering and nurturing” terrorists in Pakistan.
How will the attack impact IND vs PAK cricket?
The tensions stemming from the latest attack on Indian soil is set to further sour the political, as well as cricketing relations between India and Pakistan. In terms of cricket alone, several fans and experts are speculating that the BCCI might well urge the ICC and the ACC to keep the Indian team separate from Pakistan in group stages of World Cups and Asia Cup events.
