Indian stalwart Virat Kohli has been turning heads with his phenomenal performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, especially following his recent masterclass against the Rajasthan Royals.

On Saturday, Kohli hammered an unbeaten 113 off 72 deliveries, an innings filled with 12 fours and four sixes.

This sensational knock, marking his 8th ton in the IPL, highlighted his dominance in the league and his current form, which sees him leading as the tournament's top run-scorer with 316 runs at an astonishing average of 105.33 across five matches.

Shahzad throws his support behind Kohli; Questions potential World Cup snub

In recent times, the cricketing world has been sitting on pins and needles over the potential exclusion of Virat Kohli from India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Reports had stated that BCCI is considering leaving out Kohli from India’s squad for the marquee event.

After his knock vs Rajasthan, Pakistani cricketer Ahmad Shahzad took to Twitter to throw his support behind the Indian batting maestro, making waves with his candid endorsement.

His message, laden with a tinge of sarcasm, was a clear jab at the BCCI, urging them to reconsider their stance.

"And you are thinking Virat Kohli is Done Think wisely @BCCI," Shahzad's tweet read, serving not just as a word of advice but as a call to acknowledge Kohli's unparalleled brilliance in the T20 format.

It is worth mentioning that the notion of sidelining such a stalwart of the game had previously sent shockwaves through social media, with fans and pundits alike up in arms, decrying the mere thought of Kohli's absence from a tournament where he has been nothing short of a juggernaut.

With 1141 runs from 27 matches in T20 World Cups, including 14 fifties and an average of 81.5, Kohli's credentials are indeed beyond reproach.
