Scottish opener, Michael Jones failed to give Scotland a swashbuckling start against Australia in what is a virtual knockout for them in St Lucia as he fell in the very first over to Ashton Agar.

The 26-year-old opener who was batting at 2*(2) was facing Agar on the final ball of the first over as he inside-edged the ball onto the pads which went to dislodge the bails stumps while trying to cut it from the length delivery on the off stump.

Jones' wicket reduced Scotland to 3/1 at the end of the first over. Following the wicket, the explosive Brandon McMullen joined the left-handed opener, George Munsey and the duo went on an onslaught, adding 60(34) and 35(23) respectively before Glenn Maxwell broke the 89-run stand.

At the time of writing, the Scottish team find themselves 180/5 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. A match-winning total here in the first innings would mean that Scotland will join the Aussies in the Super Eights from group B while England will pack their bags to return home from the group stage.
