In yet another thriller at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Nepal lost to South Africa in a heart-breaking fashion by just one run at Kingstown, bowing out of the tournament in the process.

Putting South Africa to bat first, Nepal restricted them to just 115, thanks to a four-fer from Kushal Bhrutel for only 19 runs and a clinical 3/21 from all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee. 

In pursuit of 116 runs, Nepal were cruising when they just needed 34 in the final 7 overs with still eight wickets in hand.

Aiden Markram took the matter into his own hands before bringing Tabraiz Shamsi for his final over where he got two crucial wickets, ending his spell with sensational figures of 4/16.

Anrich Nortje helped in pulling things back before getting hit for a six. However, Ottneil Baartman defended eight runs in the final over as Gulshan Jha fell short of his crease when they needed 2 runs, ending the game with a heartbreak.

Despite the loss, the Nepal team received a grand reception from the fans on the ground and cricket lovers across the globe on the internet, backing them to do great things in the near future.
