P.R Sreejesh has been a great servant of Indian hockey and has finally retired after India won the Bronze Medal in the Paris Olympics. He is considered as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the game, and is popularly known as 'The Wall' and in an interview to PTI has drawn comparison with cricket to express his confidence on the depth of the talent in India.

Sreejesh mentioned that first there was Sachin Tendulkar who carried the hopes of Indian cricket and then came Virat Kohli, so transition will happen and there will always be players who will stand up and deliver.

"There won't be a vacuum. Someone will come in my place, for sure. All the sports are like that. Sachin Tendulkar was there and now there is Virat Kohli, and someone will take his place tomorrow. So, Sreejesh was there yesterday, but someone else will come and take his place tomorrow."

No Dearth Of Talent In India

Indian cricket has a long history of successful transition with match-winners emerging in every generation. In the same way, Hockey in India has also seen some world-class players over the years, and we can expect India to go from strength to strength in both sports after the recent World Cup success in cricket and a Bronze medal for Hockey in Paris Olympics.
