The Oval Invincibles Women have registered a convincing eight-wicket win against the London Spirit Women in the 26th match of The Women's Hundred 2024. The match was being held at the Kennington Oval in London, United Kingdom.

The Oval Invincibles won the toss in the game and opted to field first. The London Spirit top-order crumbled easily and the team was under sheer pressure. The wickets kept falling and soon the Spirit were struggling at 47/7 in the 12th set of the innings.

At this stage, Deepti Sharma decided to put up a fight and played a resilient knock of 46* from 30 balls. Eva Gray played the second fiddle to her and the duo stitched a partnership of 56 runs off 34 deliveries. This partnership got the Spirit out of trouble and the helped the team post a fighting total of 120/8 in their 100 balls.

Chamari Athapaththu struggled during her stay in the middle

In the chase, Chamari Athapaththu and Lauren Winfield-Hill got the Invincibles off to a steady start. Although, Athaptahthu struggled a lot during her stay off 19 deliveries in the middle, she hit a beautiful boundary in it. The cover drive played by the Sri Lankan all-rounder reflected timing and class all the way. It was probably the highlight of her short 11-run innings. Her stay was soon cut short by Sarah Glenn as she trapped her leg before the stumps in the sixth set.

After the fall of Athapaththu, Lauren Winfield took charge and propelled the team towards the target. She was aided by cameo from Mairzanne Kapp as the Oval Invincibles reached their target losing only two wickets with nine balls remaining in the game.
