Mumbai Indians will be aiming to sustain its newfound winning momentum when they will face age-old nemesis Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match number 38 of the IPL 2025 season.

Set to be hosted by the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the match marks the return fixture between the two sides, considering the ‘Yellow Brigade’ won their first face-off in the opening weekend of the competition.

The Mumbai Indians vs CSK rivalry is widely regarded as the greatest ever rivalry in the history of the IPL, by fans and cricket experts alike. Ahead of their much-awaited contest, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya further hyped up the impending conflict by making a huge claim about the fervent fanbases of both franchises.

Hardik Pandya makes big claim before CSK match

Hardik Pandya, captain of the Mumbai Indians franchise, stated that his team does not truly feel at home at the Wankhede Stadium whenever the CSK group visits the venue.

The Indian all-rounder added that Wankhede Stadium is usually split in support of both teams in MI vs CSK games, and that CSK veteran MS Dhoni alone pulls in a huge chunk of the crowd at the stadium.

“When we play CSK, there is no MI there. CSK is going to be CSK there. But even when CSK comes here, half of the fans are CSK’s."

The Mumbai Indians team has secured three wins and sustained four defeats from seven matches to be ranked seventh on the IPL 2025 points table. At the moment, their NRR reads a dismal 0.239.

The CSK franchise, on the other hand, is languishing at the bottom of the 10-team standings for registering just two wins. With five defeats from seven matches, MS Dhoni and co. need to attain positive momentum going ahead into the competition.
