On Sunday, April 20, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced off against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 37th match of the IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to field first, setting the stage for PBKS to bat.

PBKS vs RCB: Captains' Thought
Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings Captain): "We also wanted to bowl first. Same reason, pretty much. Afternoon game, wicket will be a bit dry. At the end of the day, you have to adapt according to the situation. Whatever we have been offered, we have to make the most of it. We have to give it some time and see how the ball is moving and pitching. We haven't played a day game yet. The earlier we adapt, the better it is for us."
Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru Captain): "We will bowl first. Pretty decent wicket. It won't change much. Batting second gives us more clarity about the game and the wicket. It is an afternoon game. As I said, it won't change much. So we are bowling first. We are not looking at the venues. We are just trying to play good cricket."
