'The Pressure Is On Them', Nepal Skipper's Bold Remark Before T20 WC Game Vs SL

Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel acknowledges the formidable challenge posed by their next opponent, Sri Lanka, but remains confident in his team's ability to overcome it. He believes the Lankans will be under immense pressure while facing his troops.

Numerous upsets have already occurred in the tournament, with Associate teams beating full members. The close finishes have bolstered the young Nepal captain's confidence.

Paudel is optimistic that his team can cause another upset by defeating an under-pressure Sri Lanka in Lauderhill, Florida, on June 11.

This is Nepal's second match but a more crucial fixture for the Lankans, who are struggling, having lost their group-stage encounters against South Africa and Bangladesh.

“If we respect the conditions and present our skills, we can beat any team. The team believes that. We are very confident for tomorrow. If you look at this tournament, there have been many ups and downs," Paudel said.

"So, the team believes, and more than us, as a team, the pressure is on the Test-playing nation. We will utilise the pressure; create the pressure and we want to win the game tomorrow. So, if we do the basic things right, I think we are ahead,”  he added.

Nepal played their last match on June 4 and had a week's break before their second match against the Lankan Lions.

Sri Lanka will obviously start as favourites, but the Nepali cricketers will not surrender to them. If they fight hard with both bat and ball, who knows, they might overcome the Lankan challenge.
