Aakash Chopra hailed Rohit Sharma's inspirational captaincy throughout the ICC World Cup 2023 and backed the Indian skipper and experienced opener to retain his dominant ways at the top of the order.

The former Test opener congratulated Rohit for transforming the outside discourse about his approach at the crease ever since the veteran right-hander has made a deep impact on India's fortunes in an excellent juggernaut, featuring ten consecutive wins in the build-up to the ultimate finale against Australia on Sunday (November 19).

Providing critical blitz against the new ball and ruffling the opposition's feathers early, Rohit has blasted his 550 runs at an amazing strike-rate of 124.15 and helped the rest of the batting line-up to play their roles under ease and precision with more time up their sleeves at the crease.

At an age when reflexes tend to slow down and captaincy could easily take its toll, Rohit has been the most willing to don the aggressive avatar and hammered bowling attacks selflessly without worrying about personal milestones and outside noise and pressure.

Chopra Hails Rohit Sharma's World Cup 2023 Impact

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra felt one of Rohit's biggest influence is seen in the way people have appreciated his role in India's remarkable winning run.

In a nation obsessed with centuries and major milestones, fans have been glued to watch Rohit's quickfire cameos for their sheer weight and influence to the rest of the batting unit.

"Something beautiful has happened if we talk about this World Cup. Everyone has suddenly started realizing how important Rohit Sharma is," Chopra said. "If someone scores 40-odd runs, it is not celebrated that much. However, he has scored more than 500 runs and the way he has scored them."

"Everyone is saying that the captain is walking the talk, showing the way, and setting the tone. Good guys don't always finish last, that's Rohit Sharma. You will expect the same from him once again," he added.
