The Ashes | 'If He Bowls Me a Bad Ball I'll...': Harry Brook Lays Down His Plans Against Nathan Lyon

One of England's new Test sensations, Harry Brook will be under the pump when they go up against arch-rivals Australia in the upcoming 'The Ashes 2023' series, which starts tomorrow. Brook, who has been named in England's playing XI for the first Test at Edgbaston, is coming off a poor Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season and will be facing off against one of the best bowling line-ups in the world currently.

The seven-Test-old sounded positive about his batting and vowed to continue his aggressive style against Nathan Lyon, and Australia's pace attack. As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Brook said he could respect Lyon for good balls, but punish him if he dishes out bad ones.

Brook had a spectacular time in Pakistan and New Zealand, amassing 468 and 329 runs, respectively in both series.

Here's what Brook said

"If I get a good ball I'm going to try and survive against that good ball, and if he bowls me a bad ball I'll try and hit it for four or six. So it's not necessarily I'm going to come after him and try and hit every ball for six. I'm going to respect the bowler and whatever he bowls and if it is a bad ball I'll try and hit it for six.

I’d like to think I’m a player who can find gaps and hit different gaps, I try and play all around the wicket. I’ll see whatever field he has; I’m sure they’ll probably start with everybody up and we’ll go from there."

The youngster sounded extremely delighted about playing in his maiden Ashes series, calling it a 'dream come true' moment. Talking about Australia's pace attack, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) player had quite a quirky response.

"Obviously they might have a little bit of extra pace, but if they bowl quicker it tends to go to the boundary quicker,"

Brook will find confidence knowing the likes of Jonathan Bairstow and Moeen Ali are present in the middle order, meaning he can play as hard as possible down the order.
