India’s recent Test tour of England had everything: gripping cricket, high drama and moments that will be replayed for years. The five-match series finished 2-2 after India pulled off a record six-run win at The Oval to seal the finale on the fifth morning.
Karun Nair Opens Up On Alleged Tearful Balcony Scene With KL Rahul
But away from the scorecards, one clip doing the rounds on social media caught plenty of attention, an emotional Karun Nair, supposedly in tears, being consoled by KL Rahul.
Only problem? That moment never actually happened.
In a chat with Insidesport, the comeback man was quick to set the record straight.
“I think that was an AI-generated video," Nair said. “I don’t think that’s a real video at all. Yes, we were sitting on the balcony, but after that, everything was, you know, it’s not real."
After an eight-year wait for an international recall, Nair didn’t have the dream return he might have hoped for. But the time spent in the dressing room with his Karnataka teammates KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna was still special.
“Yeah, it was good to have Prasidh and KL Rahul with me. We really had a lot of fun in the last two months. We spent a lot of time together. We discussed cricket, we discussed everything else about being back in the team. It was a good time, and really glad that we could end the series on a high note," he added.
Belief Kept India In The Fight
Nair feels the 2-2 scoreline is a fair reflection of how the series panned out and admitted India would have been gutted if they had come out on the wrong side.
“Quite honestly the entire series was a well-fought one between two amazing teams and from our point of view we would have been very disappointed if we had gone on to lose the series because we were performing at a really good level and we deserved to be closer in terms of the scoreline," Nair said.
He also revealed how the team always had the belief.
“We always had the confidence that one wicket can change the momentum either way. So it was all about the belief and the way the bowlers and everyone supported each other, the fight, the never give up attitude that we showed was amazing to see," he concluded.
Meanwhile, after a rather mediocre series with the bat, Karun will aim to grind it out in the domestic circuit to regain his place in the Indian Test team.
