'That's My Problem With...': Former KKR Star Lashes Out At DC's Team Selection Vs PBKS

Delhi Capitals played with 4 foreign batters in their lineup against Punjab Kings, compromising their bowling, and eventually lost the game. Robin Uthappa was furious at this decision, emphasizing the oversight of Indian talents.

Rishabh Pant returned to cricket, but Delhi Capitals lost their game against Punjab Kings at Mullanpur stadium. Delhi batted first with a top 3 of Warner, Marsh, and Shai Hope, followed by Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs. Except for Pant, Delhi's top order consisted entirely of foreign players. Players like Prithvi Shaw were benched, and Abhishek Porel, who eventually saved them as an impact player, was initially benched as well.

The foreign core and Pant failed to bat well, putting Delhi in a big dilemma. However, Porel, who came in as an impact sub, changed the game for Delhi, allowing them to put up a good score on the board.

The Uthappa fury on DC

Abhishek Porel made a quick 32 off 10 balls at number 9 with just 17 balls remaining in the innings. His contribution helped DC reach 174/9. Uthappa recommended that DC consider batting someone like Porel in the top four.

"Why don't you back the Indian players you have picked? I don't understand why a franchise like DC doesn't back Indian players. That's my problem with DC, they never try out their Indian lads," Uthappa said on Jio Cinema.

Uthappa also criticized the decision of using Axar Patel at number 7.

They batted their last year's second-highest scorer at No.7. When will you use the form of your in-form Indian players?" he asked.

Uthappa's emphasis on using the Indian core for batting is understandable given the talent pool available in Indian cricket. He likely believes in nurturing and relying on homegrown talent, which can provide stability and long-term success to a team.

Despite reaching a respectable total, the Delhi Capitals failed to deliver with the ball as the Punjab Kings eventually won the match with relative ease.
