Making a comeback in international cricket is tough, and getting a chance to play for India is even tougher. Pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has seen a decline in his form after the T20I World Cup 2022, impressed one-and-all in the One-Day Internationals (ODI) series in South Africa.
In the absence of several senior bowlers, Singh lived up to all expectations and finished the three-match series as the highest wicket-taker (10), winning the 'Player Of The Match' Award as well, which India won 2-1.
Speaking after the conclusion of the series, Singh highlighted the importance of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which plays a part in bridging the gap between domestic and international cricket for any upcoming youngster.
As quoted by Cricbuzz, the Punjab Kings player also touched upon his performance in the final ODI, where the left-armer picked four wickets.
Arshdeep Singh thanks IPL cricket
"There was always something in the wicket throughout the day. Sometimes it was gripping and stopping. The plan was simple, it was to bowl wicket-to-wicket and get LBWs and bowleds."
"IPL has been a very good platform for us youngsters, there isn’t a big gap between IPL and international cricket. You understand the mindset of international cricketers and it helps. We are all loving the chances we got. We’d love to give our all in the future as well and do well."
Meanwhile, India will now move on to the red-ball leg of the tour, where they play South Africa in a two-Test series starting December 26.
