After the completion of the ongoing IPL 2025 edition, the focus will shift again to red-ball cricket as India will tour England for a five-match Test series. Meanwhile, the upcoming tour will also mark India's first series in the new WTC cycle. The team has undergone major overhaul as Shubman Gill has been named the new captain, while Rishabh Pant being his deputy.
Ravindra Jadeja Aspires To Be India's Test Captain
Ahead of the crucial tour, India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is now the senior-most player in the Indian Test team after Virat and Rohit's retirement, appeared on R Ashwin's channel, where he opened up on his cricketing career. Meanwhile, Ashwin, during the conversation, asked Jadeja about one desire that he would still wish to accomplish in red-ball cricket.
Jadeja's reply went viral as the CSK star all-rounder remarked that he would want to wear the captain's hat once before bidding adieu to the game.
“Just one thing is left. Test captaincy. I’ve mostly achieved everything else, and it is a moment of pride to be Test Captain or lead India. Captaincy is something that can be learned with time… But I believe that an experienced cricketer understands the pulse of the game,” Jadeja added.
It is worth noting that Ravindra Jadeja has played 80 Tests, but is yet to lead the team once in the red-ball cricket. Notably, the left-arm all-rounder is the leading run-getter and the leading wicket-taker in red-ball cricket in the current squad for the England series.
