In a significant development, there are reports that India's star seamer Harshit Rana has been asked to stay back in England after his stint with India A and play some county matches. Notably, a report from RevSportz mentioned that the Indian management are looking at the KKR seamer as a standby seamer and want him to be in England in case, the team is forced to make any changes to the squad during the tour.
It is worth noting that Rana was selected for India A tour that begins on May 30 and the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side will play two four-day matches and would have returned to India following that tour. However, in the latest directive, Rana has been asked to stay back in England and play some county games following the India A tour, so that he can be used as a player on standby in case of an injury.
Harshit Rana Dropped Following Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Rana had a brilliant 2024 as the KKR seamer rose to fame after IPL 2024 heroics and it led to his selection in all three formats for India. Further, Harshit made his Test debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but was dropped for the upcoming five-match England tour.
Talking about Harshit Rana's performance in the BGT, the right- arm seamer struggled in that series, as he took just four wickets in three innings and was left out of the side. Meanwhile, the BCCI is yet to officially communicate on Harshit's extended in England.
