Australia's renowned off-spinner, Nathan Lyon, has expressed his determination to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the upcoming late-season matches.  In the last decade, India has demonstrated significant dominance in the BGT and achieved victorious outcomes on home soil as well as overseas.

The recent series has seen India's impressive control over Australia in Test cricket, which marked a significant achievement for Indian cricket.

Nathan Lyon Determined To Win Upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Nathan Lyon emphasised Australia's eagerness to settle the 'unfinished business' with India in red-ball cricket. He also acknowledged India's strength and conveyed his strong desire to bring the prestigious trophy back to Australia.

"It's been ten years of unfinished business, it's been a long time, and I know we're extremely hungry to turn things around especially here at home. Don't get me wrong, India is an absolute superstar side and extremely challenging but I'm extremely hungry to turn things around and make sure we get that trophy back.Feel like we are a different team to a couple of years ago, we are on a journey of becoming a great Australian cricket team. We're definitely not there but we are along that journey and have been playing some decent cricket."Lyon said.

India And Australia's Journey In Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Australia's grasp on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been elusive since their victorious 2014-15 campaign, which marked a period of consecutive series defeats on home soil.

In the 2020-21 series, India's remarkable comeback from being bowled out for 36 in Adelaide led to historic victories at the MCG and Gabba, coupled with a hard-fought draw in Sydney.

For the current generation of the Australian side, securing a series victory over India holds significant importance. Captain Pat Cummins, among others, is yet to lift the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, despite their triumph in the World Test Championship (WTC) one-off contest at The Oval last year.
