'Technology Was At Fault' - Shadab Khan Lashes Out At DRS After Loss In PSL 2024

The DRS has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons, firstly during the third Test between India and England, and recently in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.

Last evening, a DRS howler cost Islamabad United their match against Quetta Gladiators, which Shadab Khan has lashed out at after the conclusion of the match.

Gladiators' skipper Rilee Rossouw attempted a sweep shot against Salman Ali Agha, which the on-field umpire gave out, however, the DRS showed a different story, as the tracking system showcased that the ball was missing the stumps much to the shock of players, and umpire.

Interestingly, the tracking animation had an error, where the impact point was different from the actual line where the ball struck the pad.

As quoted by Grassroots Cricket, Khan pinned the blame on technology, and stated that such mistakes should not happen moving forward.

I think technology was at fault for this loss - Shadab Khan

“I think technology was at fault for this loss. We were shown a different ball as to the review ( the review of Rossouw). I bowled 4 overs as a leg spinner, it wasn’t turning much. This one showed impact outside off and spinning away further. In a big tournament like this, there shouldn’t be such mistakes.”

Rossouw, who's decision was overturned, went on to score a match-winning 38 for Quetta, and also won himself the ' player of the match' award.
