With 511 runs in the series so far, Indian batter KL Rahul has impressed one and all with his consistency, especially on this England tour. Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel, alongside former English skipper Nasser Hussain, praised KL Rahul for his consistent show.
Parthiv Patel Lauds KL Rahul For Moving Over His Biggest Drawback
In what has turned out to be a remarkable turnaround for Indian batter KL Rahul's career. The right-hander has managed to surpass 500 runs in a series for the first time in his international Test career, wherein the ongoing series is the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, after four games,
Rahul has been able to manage 511 runs in eight innings at an average of 63.88 with a strike rate of 51.20, while having two half-centuries and as many centuries to his name, with one of them coming at the iconic Lord's cricket stadium.
Now, former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel, speaking on streaming platform JioHotstar, reckoned that this has been Rahul's best series so far, where he has managed to be consistent, scoring runs after runs.
Previously, he used to get starts in the series but has often faltered by the end of it, as he would lose consistency on the way.
“I think the way KL Rahul has batted throughout this series has been impressive. In the past, we’ve often seen him start a series well but struggle to maintain that form. This time, however, he has shown remarkable consistency and batted with great responsibility. He also enjoys batting at The Oval — remember, in 2018, he scored a brilliant hundred there alongside Rishabh Pant. So, I’m sure there’s more to come from KL Rahul,” said Parthiv Patel on JioHotstar.
However, according to Parthiv, this time around, he has flipped the script with his uniform show in all four games so far, while adding that the upcoming Test at the Oval is expected to be another massive game for Rahul, who has had a good record at this particular venue.
Nasser Hussain Shares An Interesting Anecdote About Rahul
Not just Parthiv, but former English captain Nasser Hussain is too in awe of Rahul's ability with the bat, as he has demonstrated in this tour.
Nasser, during a chat, revealed that during one of the shoots, he asked Rahul about his preparation for the series, to which the Karnataka opener revealed that he carries a book alongside him where he has written all the information regarding how to bat in England from his previous experiences on this tour, which impressed him, as his methodical approach has turned out to be quite handy for the experienced batter.
“I spoke to him in India when I went out. He was doing his shoot with one of his sponsors. I asked, ‘When will you start preparing?’ He said, ‘I’m going to get my little book out’. He’s a very good note-taker; he said he will look back at the notes he made on the previous tour of England and come early and just remind himself of what he did in the last tour when he had some success. And he has repeated it on this tour,” Hussain said.
As per information, Rahul came to England early, alongside the India A side, which featured against England Lions in a preparatory game, where Rahul played exceptionally well, scoring 116 and 51 in the two innings he got to bat ahead of the tour.
Meanwhile, India is all set to take on England in the 5th and final Test of the series to be played at The Oval on 31st July from 3:30 PM IST, as the visitors will look to level the series 2-2.
