On June 8, the cricket world was stunned as Rinku Singh got engaged to politician Priya Saroj in a private ceremony. From the cricket field to parliament, the cricketer’s love story took a different turn as a romantic crossover between cricket and politics is still rare. As soon as he shared the pictures, fans and cricket stars poured in love and blessings for the couple’s new chapter.
But since then, fans have remained curious about how their love story began, as the couple remained quiet about this. Recently, breaking the silence in a chat with News24, Rinku finally revealed how it all started.
“It started in 2022 during the COVID years when IPL was in Mumbai. I had a fan page that put up a photo of Priya about some voting in her village. Priya's sister shoots photos and videos, so I think she had asked the fan page to put up a photo for help. I saw the photo and I liked her. I thought she was perfect for me. I thought about texting her, but then I thought it wouldn't be right,” he said.
When Likes And Messages Blossom Into Love
As Rinku Singh’s batting approach always differentiates him from others, his love story was no different. It all began with a few Instagram likes from Priya, followed by Rinku’s message to the young MP, and the rest was magic. Rinku revealed how Instagram united him with his forever soulmate.
“She liked a couple of my photos. Then I texted her on Instagram, and that's how it all started. Then we started talking. In a week or two, we were talking regularly, talking before matches. So, I started feeling the love from 2022,” he added.
Despite struggling for a long time with his form, Rinku Singh secured his place in Team India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. As this is going to be his first Asia Cup, he will be eager to make a statement and silence his critics.
