'Should've Had An Average Of 200': Sehwag Mocks Pakistan’s Bowling Attack

It is all but over for the Men In Green as their semi-final dream has virtually come to an end after New Zealand crushed Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on November 9th. Pakistan was desperately pinning their hopes on Sri Lanka to produce a miraculous win or perhaps waited in anticipation for the rain to spoil the party for the Blackcaps.

In the end, none of the aforementioned outcomes materialized thus crushing their aspirations of securing a spot in the semi-final stage. It is important to note that the 1992 Champions are still in with a slim chance of making it to the knockout stage but for that to happen, they will now need to beat England by a massive margin of 287 runs which at this stage is highly unlikely.

As a possible semi-final encounter between India and New Zealand gains more certainty, Virender Sehwag did not hesitate to take a swipe at Pakistan after their World Cup semi-final aspiration took a severe blow. He posted a confrontational tweet quoting 'Pakistan Zindabhaag', suggesting that the team will return to their home country after their final group match against England.

His post garnered severe backlash from the cricketing fraternity in Pakistan and shortly after fans from either side began engaging in a war of words on social media. In a retaliatory move, a fan from Pakistan claimed that his side’s bowlers gave him immense trouble on several occasions.

Sehwag's witty tweet

In response, Sehwag, who is known to have an astounding batting average of 91 against Pakistan, launched a scathing attack on the Pakistani bowling attack which has severely underperformed in this year’s World Cup tournament. He stated that the side’s bowling post Wasim Akram’s retirement has been ordinary for him.

“Nahi yaar, Wasim bhai ke retirement ke baad jaise yeh thhey , 200 ki avg honi chahiye tha inke saath. But jo bhi ho , tab bhi aur ab bhi Inke Mazzey lene mein maza aata hai.

On a hilarious note, the legendary Indian opener claimed that he would have had an average of 200 had he been operating against the lesser-quality bowlers post Wasim’s retirement. Pakistan are set to clash against England in their last league game on Saturday while India will take on the Netherlands on Sunday before heading to the semi-finals.
