Australia are looking to script history against South Africa as they aim to become the first team to win WTC title twice. The two teams will have a go against each other on June 11 at the Lord's stadium.

It is the third edition of the prestigious red-ball tournament, and the Baggy Greens are the defending Champions. India and New Zealand squared off in the inaugural edition, while the Pat Cummins-led side beat India in the last final.

Pat Cummins Pitches The Idea To Move WTC Final Out Of England

Further, on all occasions, England have been the host - Southampton in 2021, The Oval in 2023 and The Lord's this year. The fans have raised their voice against the Three Lions getting to host the prestigious tournament every edition, despite the Ben Stokes-led side not reaching the final once.

In the latest events, Australia captain Pat Cummins has also jumped onto the bandwagon and supported the idea of moving the tournament out of England. The right-arm seamer pitched that the team that lifts the trophy in the previous edition should get to host the WTC final in the following cycle.

"Logistically, it seems like that's probably the easiest way to have one venue. It'd be nice, maybe the previous winner hosts that for the next time, or something like that. But as an alternative, I think having it at Lord's every cycle is also a pretty good place," said Cummins as quoted by India Today.

BCCI Plans To Bid For Hosting Right Of 2027 WTC Final

Amid the growing voice to move the WTC final out of England, there were reports that the BCCI is looking to host the 2027 WTC final.

According to a report by The Guardian, the BCCI has expressed interest in hosting the 2027 WTC final at last month’s ICC chief executives meeting in Zimbabwe. Also, with former BCCI secretary Jay Shah now at the helm of ICC, BCCI has a strong case.
