India have been a dominant team at home and they rarely lose a Test match at home. However, New Zealand pulled off a a series win for ages recently when they whitewashed Rohit Sharma's India. India lost all the three Test matches at it was their first Test series loss in India after 2012.
It was also a rare average series for Ravichandran Ashwin. He has been one of India's biggest match-winners in Indian conditions and he being not at his best both with the ball and at the bat, hurt India big time. There have been some extreme reactions from fans which has not been kind towards the players and now Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed his views on the same.
Ravi Ashwin Wants Fans To Show Respect
Ashwin mentioned that it was very difficult to see how the fans reacted after the loss and slammed them for doubting the commitment of the players. He stated that no one gets more hurt than a cricketer playing the game and it their careers that are made and broken on the field. He also urged fans to not involve in character assassination of players after loss and added that it is not how the fans should treat cricketers who are representing the country.
"It was difficult for me to see how people reacted - how did they react? Everyone should apologize - sir, this is a sport, I just want to say one thing, everyone was hurt, as Indian cricket fans but let me promise you, no one can hurt as much as a player in the dressing room - so doubting the hurt is criminal because players make careers & their careers are broken by what they do on the field so I believe that character assassination shouldn't be done by anyone."
India would now be heading to Australia for the five-match Test series and the first Test would start on 22nd of November at the Optus Stadium, Perth.
