The Sri Lankan domination over the New Zealand side across formats continued when the hosts won a close-fought battle in the first T20I match on November 9. After a demolition job in the Tests, Sri Lanka humbled the Kiwis to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The Kiwis, who recently thrashed India, 3-0 in the Test series, were riding high on confidence, but the Lankan Lions were at their best, dismissing the visitors for a paltry 135. The target looked easy at first, but the hosts lost a flurry of wickets to make the contest interesting.
However, 135 was never going to trouble Sri Lanka as they won the match by 4 wickets to take a lead in the series.
Now, the focus shifts towards the second T20I as the Kiwis eye a historic comeback. However, apart from the two teams, there is a third factor which will decide the fate of the contest and that is rain. Will rain play spoilsport on Sunday? we'll find out.
SL Vs NZ 2nd T20I, Dambulla weather: Rain to play spoilsport
Well, as per Accuweather, things are not looking bright on Sunday as Sri Lanka take on New Zealand. It is going to be 27 degrees, but it will also accompany thunderstorms in the afternoon which could potentially hurt the contest.
The weather is clear for night, but rain threatens to play spoilsport in the evening as well. If rain indeed ruins the contest, Sri Lanka will seal the 2-match series, as the caravan will move towards the ODIs between the two nations. As a result, the Kiwis will want at-least some contest to take place.
