Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, has been under fire since Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.

The most alarming aspect was Pakistan's failure to qualify for the first time in the history of the tournament, a rare occurrence that has sparked numerous debates.

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik, known for his candid opinions, recently appeared on a popular Pakistani talk show where he didn't hold back in his criticism of Babar Azam's recent performance.

"Who is our best layer? Our best player is Babar Azam. I am just talking about the top 4-5 teams. Can Babar fit in the playing XI of those teams? Of Australia, of India or of England in just this particular format? The answer is NO!" Malik said.

Additionally, as quoted by India Today, Malik mentioned that the Pakistan captain won't even get a place in the Nepal T20I squad.

Babar Azam, once hailed as the next Virat Kohli, has unfortunately not lived up to the comparison. His bat has been silent for too long, especially in the T20 World Cup where he managed to score just 124 runs with a below-par strike rate of 101.

Moreover, ever since April 2024 he has only managed to only slam three fifties in the shortest format of the game.

Before, Babar Azam was reinstated as Pakistan's skipper, Shaheen Afridi took over the role after the Men In Green's unsuccessful campaign at 2023 ODI World Cup held at India. Now, once again after their early exit, there are numerous rumors suggesting that Babar would have to step down as captain.
