Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan has been appointed as the captain of the Vancouver Knights ahead of the upcoming Global T20 Canada. The league will commence on July 25, with the final scheduled for August 11.
This move comes as Pakistan's national team captain, Babar Azam, faces criticism following an early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. Babar will now play under Rizwan's leadership.
The Vancouver Knights announced, "The Vancouver Knights have chosen their captain for GT20 Season 4: Sir Mohammad Rizwan. With his exceptional batting skills and sharp wicketkeeping, he's ready to lead us to victory. Get ready, Knights!"

While Rizwan has not yet captained the national team, he boasts a commendable record with Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), having led them to three consecutive finals and winning 32 out of 48 matches as captain.
In contrast, Babar Azam has struggled in both franchise and international cricket, with Peshawar Zalmi recording 11 wins and 11 losses under his leadership. In the T20 World Cup, Babar Azam failed to deliver a significant performance, and the team did not qualify for the semifinals, showcasing a poor performance after being defeated by India and the debutant team USA.
Joining Rizwan and Babar in the Vancouver Knights squad are fellow Pakistan players Mohammad Amir and Asif Ali.
