It was a day of jubilation for the entire India after the Women's cricket side played their heart out to win the gold medal by beating Sri Lanka in the finals of the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The victory was extraordinary for the Indian camp was, in fact, praised by the Indian men's captain Rohit Sharma.

Sharma, who has been an ardent supporter of the women's side, congratulated the winning team by writing an inspiring message on the social media platform Twitter (Now X) and Instagram. Posting a photograph alongside, the 36-year-old wrote,

"The tricolour is shining bright as gold🥇"

Talking about the game, the Indian team batted first and posted 116 on the board by the end of 20 overs under tough batting conditions, with the ball turning massively. Opener Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues were the top scorers for the side, with 46 and 42, respectively.

In reply, Sri Lankan batters failed to have a decent start with three down for 14 inside five overs, thanks to pacer Titas Sadhu, who claimed all three of them.

Later, scoring proved to be an uphill task for the neighbours as they could only manage 97 in their respective 20 overs, handing India a victory by 19 runs and the prestigious Gold Medal.

Meanwhile, the Men's team is preparing for the Asian Games too, with their first match on 3rd October but without the senior players as they will be occupied with the World Cup that begins on 5th October.
