Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Test matches in 2024. Bangladesh Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain has affirmed Shakib's availability for the remainder of the year.

In addition, Gazi Ashraf emphasized the need for robust security for Bangladesh players ahead of their tour to Pakistan. Bangladesh and Pakistan are scheduled to play a two-match Test series, beginning on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The chief selector raised the security concern following political unrest in Bangladesh, which has disrupted the team’s preparations for the series. Speaking about Shakib, who has also ventured into politics, Gazi remarked, "Shakib is a top player."

In terms of selection, we had to think of many things because he is a political person. But his selection was done because of his talent."

Shakib Al Hasan, a key player for the Bangla Tigers, last represented Bangladesh in international colors during the 2024 T20 World Cup match against Afghanistan.
