Indian ace pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah remains uncertain for the upcoming series as India gear up for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh scheduled to begin on September 19.

The 30-year-old bowler is likely to miss the first two Tests against Bangladesh due to a packed schedule of upcoming Test matches.

Bumrah, who has been resting since India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, did not participate in the recent series against Zimbabwe or the matches in Sri Lanka across any format.

Mukesh Kumar

With Bumrah likely to be rested, Mukesh Kumar could get an opportunity to play against Bangladesh. The right-arm medium pacer, last seen in action against England in Test cricket, has been backed by Ajit Agarkar and the selection committee for his significance in red-ball cricket.

Arshdeep Singh

India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has been a key figure in Gautam Gambhir’s plans for the future. Although he has yet to make his Test debut, Arshdeep might receive his maiden call-up soon. The BCCI has been grooming him with an eye on the Border-Gavaskar series.

Akash Deep

Right-arm fast bowler Akash Deep impressed in his maiden call-up earlier this year. In his debut against England at Ranchi in February 2024, he took three wickets at an economy of 4.36. If Bumrah is rested, Akash Deep might be included in the squad once again.
