After the Asia Cup triumph in the last month, Team India is back at their T20I assignment as Men in Blue are set to lock horns with Australia in a five-match T20I series. With the Aussie turf promising fierce challenges, they are ready to unleash their best.
Before stepping into the series, captain Suryakumar Yadav’s form has become a massive concern. Ahead of the first game, the Indian captain reflected on his recent struggle.
Suryakumar Yadav reflects on his T20I form
In the shortest format of the game, a player like Team India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is rare. However, his recent struggles are grabbing attention, as once hailed as the best T20I batter, his average has dropped to 11.11 in his last 11 T20I innings. Making just 330 runs in 20 innings, he had a tough outing in the Asia Cup. In six innings in the Asia Cup 2025, he scored only 72 runs.
As new challenges are coming up, his prolonged struggle is creating buzz. Ahead of stepping into the first match of the series, the Indian skipper remained confident, trusting his hard work and positive mindset.
“I feel like I’ve been working really hard. It’s not that I wasn’t working hard before, I was doing it then also. I’ve had good sessions back home and good few sessions here, so I am in good space, that is really important,” he said.
Captain puts team's glory above personal milestones
As the buzz is creating over Suryakumar Yadav’s form, the India T20I skipper is still putting the team’s goal ahead of first. Emphasizing collective success, he said his focus is on working hard for the team’s glory and taking each game as it comes.
“Runs will come eventually, but working hard towards the team goal is important. What the team wants from you in different situations, and I will take it one game at a time. If it starts, then it will be a good thing,” he added.
After facing a defeat in the recently ended ODI series, the Team India are aiming for a major turnaround. As the first T20I match of the series is scheduled for October 29, the cricket world is gearing up for a classic showdown.
