The India-Pakistan rivalry has always hyped up ICC events, and the previous edition of the ICC T20 World Cup was no exception to that. In a low-scoring thriller, Team India pulled off a dominating victory against their arch-rivals.
Despite early blows, Pakistan began to find rhythm, anchored by Mohammad Rizwan’s resilient knock. Meanwhile, as the cricket world is celebrating the anniversary of Team India’s T20 World Cup win, Rohit Sharma relived the dramatic moment of the IND-PAK clash.
Rohit Sharma Relives Rizwan’s Dramatic Dismissal In T20 WC Clash
The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 unfolded another dramatic encounter between India and Pakistan as Rohit Sharma and Co. had the last laugh. Putting on 119 runs while batting first, the Indian bowlers troubled the Pakistani batters initially in the second innings.
Being 73/3, Pakistani skipper Mohammad Rizwan was trying to turn the game in their favor. But Team India’s ‘Saviour’ Jasprit Bumrah came into action in the 15th over and struck Rizwan in the first delivery. While attempting a slog, the Pakistani skipper walked away scoring only 31 runs.
As India marked one year since their iconic T20 World Cup triumph, former T20I skipper Rohit Sharma looked back on the unforgettable India-Pakistan clash. Speaking in a show called 'Champions Wali Feeling Fir se', as quoted by ICC, Hitman said Rizwan’s wicket was a crucial moment that helped India to maintain control and dominance in the game.
“This was a big wicket in the context of the game. With where the game was heading, a set batter and Rizwan is such a quality player for them who has got so many runs for them in the past and won them a lot of games. So, it was very important to get him out at that time,” Rohit said.
After Rizwan’s dismissal in the match, Pakistan couldn’t bounce back. The Indian bowlers shattered their batting lineup as the ‘Men in Green’ were bundled out in just 113 runs. With nerves of steel, Rohit Sharma and Co. clinched a nail-biting 6-run win, sealing a victory for the ages.
