On June 29 2024, Rohit Sharma and his boys created history in Barbados by beating South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue lifted their second T20 World Cup title, and it was a hard-fought win.
The Aiden Markram-led unit started the final on a bright note with three early wickets at a score of just 34. However, that is where Virat Kohli and Axar Patel got together, and the duo took India to safer shores. Virat Kohli scored 76, and it was a classical knock under pressure from the great man despite being in poor form throughout that tournament.

Now, ahead of the first anniversary of that epic final, Rohit Sharma has shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli's innings while speaking to Star Sports. Hitman mentioned that Virat Kohli got three boundaries in the very first over, and it is exactly what a cricketer wants early in the innings.
Rohit stated that Virat Kohli's experience also helped him in the big final and called it a great knock. He also appreciated the partnership between Virat Kohli and Axar Patel and added that there were nerves in the dressing room when they lost three early wickets.
Rohit also accepted that he was panicking and not comfortable after those three early wickets, and he felt that they let South Africa get into the game by making mistakes early in the match.
"Pehle he over me jab aapko teen chauke mil jaate hai then obviously, you have started off well and that is what every cricketer wants. It relieves you a little bit, I am sure same happened to him. The experience of playing for India for so many years also helps and he played a great knock, great partnership with Axar. When we lost those three wickets upfront, there were obviously lot of nerves inside the dressing room. I was panicking, I was not comfortable, mai soch raha hu ke yaar, we let them into the game."
Overall, Rohit Sharma, for the first time, has opened up about his mental state during the T20 World Cup 2024 finale, and has emphasised on the importance of Virat Kohli's knock in that game.
